Arnaud Mortet wines are made from beautiful parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin that are farmed, vinified and aged with identical philosophy and principles that they are so proud of at Domaine Denis Moret. Care for their vineyards with the utmost respect for this historic terroir and make sensual wines with depth, freshness, textured fruit and complexity.
Winemaker's Notes:
"100% Pinot Noir. 70% from the section below the Grand Crus, close to chalk mother rock. Lieux-dits: Les Epointures (1ha), Champs-Chenys (0.20ha), En Jouise (0.20ha), Clos de l’Arche (0.20ha). 25% from the eastern section on galet, gravel, and clay. Lieux-dits: La Justice (0.35ha), La Platieres (0.20ha). 5% from Les Champerriers on rocky and thick clay in the northern slopes. 40+ year old vines. 40% whole cluster. Indigenous yeast. Aged in barrel (25% new) for 16 months. Unfined and unfiltered"
"The vineyards are at the southern end of the appellation, mostly above the road. They offer quite a different style to the northern vineyards of the Denis Mortet label. One third whole bunch, 25% new wood. Clear bright purple, the wood makes an impression to begin with then floral rose and peony notes emerge along with deep red fruit. Not too deep but with finesse. The oak needs to dial down, which it certainly will." JASPER MORRIES (93/100)
